music for the soul

Heartstrings

About Heartstrings

I have been hearing melodies and joining them with words for as long as I can remember. My mom can prove this with the cassette tape of one of my first recorded songs at the age of three, “Porky Pig Sat on a Tree.” High quality stuff with dramatic crescendos and all. 😊 Only recently have I been encouraged to share some of my songs with others. (No, “Porky Pig” will not be released anytime soon.  Sorry to disappoint.)

My songs are deeply personal to me. They come from the honest development of my own soul and my relationship with God. I pray they bring peace and an element of Truth to all who hear them.

Here I Will Wait

I wrote “Here I Will Wait” during a significant time of depression. I was longing to feel and hear God, like I so often had before, but the world was a heavy void of nothingness to me. The last verse was my anthem, written in faith before I could see the light.

Still

I love the image described in Psalm 91:4, “He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge.”  Doesn’t that sound like an inviting place to be? There is no other peace like the peace of knowing you are cared for by God. That is the feeling I hope this song captures.

Precious Are You Child

So often I need to be reminded of the truth in Zephaniah 3:17, that God takes delight in us and sings over us with gladness. What a thought! I believe this is true for all of us- no one is excluded: God rejoices over each of us with singing. Can you hear it?

At Calvary

“At Calvary” started out as a poem of repentance and thanksgiving for that which I know to be true- God wants to be in relationship with us, just as we are, and will stop at nothing to show us that He loves us.  Amazing.
